Facebook warns of more privacy policy changes

Monday 29 March 2010 09:07

Facebook is planning to make further changes to its privacy policy to prepare for new services, including sharing information with third parties.

In a carefully worded blog post, deputy general counsel for Facebook, Michael Richter, said Facebook is giving advance notice of the changes and will listen to feedback from users.

In the proposed privacy policy, Facebook refers to the possibility of working with pre-approved partner websites to offer "a more personalised experience".

No details of the proposed products have been revealed, but Facebook intends to enable them by default, which will require users to opt out if they do not want information shared with third parties.

"We encourage you to review the newest proposed changes in their entirety and provide your own thoughts on the Facebook Site Governance Page," said Richter.
