There are several reasons why others will stand up for you. There are (of course) also reasons why someone will not stand up for you, but that is for another moment.
Why do people want to help you?
The first we may think of, is because we care for each other. We help each other in a fight, or struggle, because we want the other to be happy, good, healthy.
I should like to think that that is always the reason, for helping, but reality is different.
There are people who like to help, and put some conditions on it. One is that they must get something back for what they invest. Gratefulness, or a boost of their own ego, are two things that come up inmy mind, there might be more.
Or a moment in the publicity, so that everyone can see how good they are.
The help gets questionable when the other puts conditions for it. Like, okay, your house burnt down, now you can not put that blue paint anymore, I help you, but the paint must be red.
When you really are desperate, you might accept all the help you can get,without caring too much for what the consequences might be for the future. Surviving is the first and basic thing to do.
I do hope that, who ever comes in such a situation, will find the people that not only help to get better theirselves, or promise money, with huge publicity, and in the end do not give a penny.
