Dear Hans,

SIGN PETITIONYou can be the voice of Tibetan political prisoners – a voice they desperately need – by signing this International Campaign for Tibet petition to President Obama.

It’s important for you to act now because Chinese President Xi Jinping will be at the White House on Friday. This official state visit gives us a golden opportunity to focus attention on the plight of political prisoners in Tibet.

President Xi Jinping is leading a ruthless crackdown on Tibetans' human rights. "Crimes" punishable by imprisonment and torture include peaceful assembly, displaying the Tibetan flag, and calling for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet.

Highly-revered lama Tenzin Delek Rinpoche died in a Chinese prison this summer. ICT alerted the world to the desecration of his body and persecution of his family members. Now we are rallying public support to help save Khenpo Khartse, a respected abbot who is beloved by his community suffering serious health problems as he serves a 2-1/2 year sentence for allegedly "divulging state secrets."

Please sign ICT’s petition to President Obama urging him to stand up for Tibetans. Issues raised during his meetings with President Xi Jinping must include:
  • Investigating the death of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.
  • Releasing Khenpo Khartse and all innocent Tibetan political prisoners.
  • Committing to dialogue with envoys of the Dalai Lama to end China’s repression in Tibet.

Thank you for speaking up for voiceless Tibetan political prisoners…and for all you do to help resolve the crisis in Tibet.

Sincerely,
Matteo Mecacci

P.S. Please forward this message to your friends and encourage them to join you in helping free Tibetan political prisoners.
