Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP
Leonard Nimoy, who was best-known for his role as Mr. Spock in the "Star Trek" franchise, died at his home on Friday in Los Angeles, his wife, Susan Bay Nimoy, confirmed to the New York Times. He was 83.

According to his wife, Nimoy's death was due to end-stage chronic obtrusive pulmonary disease. The star had been open about his condition, and spoke publicly about it last year. "Just can't walk distances. Love my life, family, friends and followers," he wrote on Twitter a week after announcing his diagnosis.

US Government celebrates the Tibetan New Year for the first time
Losar
On February 23, 2015, the State Department hosted a reception to celebrate Losar, the Tibetan New Year, to an invited gathering of Tibetan Americans, diplomats, State Department officials and other dignitaries. The first day of Losar fell on February 19 this year.

“This is the first time that such an event has been organized by the State Department and it can be seen as a recognition of Tibetan American culture and its contribution to American society. We are pleased to see the US Government taking this initiative,” said Bhuchung Tsering, Vice President of the International Campaign for Tibet. For more please see our full report.

ICTINSIDE TIBET
Images from Tibet on the first day of Losar
Losar
Images of Tibetans celebrating Losar, Tibetan New Year, despite intensified security, emerged from across Tibet last week. Losar this year is significant, particularly in the Tibetan area of Amdo, because it is the Dalai Lama’s 80th birthday on July 6, according to the Western calendar.

A photograph from Ngaba showed Tibetans in a bold celebration offering khatags (white blessing scarves) to an image of the Dalai Lama at a shrine bearing the words ‘Welcome to the 80th birthday of His Holiness’. According to tradition in the Tibetan area of Amdo, 80th birthday celebrations are particularly important. Meanwhile, Chinese authorities deployed large numbers of troops in Tibetan areas of Sichuan and Qinghai prior to Tibetan New Year, and declared the importance of ‘stability’ at Losar.

New Chinese laws in Rebgong, northern Tibet, institute wide-ranging restrictions
Chinese laws
The rules, enacted in Rebgong County in the northern Tibetan region of Amdo, forbid 20 “illegal” activities, including “associations formed in the name of the Tibetan language, the environment, and education,” and playing music which “implies support for Tibetan independence.” Rebgong is an important cultural and religious center for Tibetans, and it has been the site of multiple protests and a number of self-immolations over the last few years. For a full translated list of the restrictions, please see this Tibet Post report.

Crackdown on young monks in Tsonub region of Tibet
Authorities in Tsonub, the area west of Tso Ngonpo lake, have prevented young monks who returned home for the Tibetan New Year from returning to their monasteries. This move, reported here by Radio Free Asia, is seen as an attempt to cut down on the size of Tibetan monasteries. Local parents are concerned that the Chinese government-run schools these children will have to attend instead don’t teach the Tibetan language, and their attempts to organize extra-curricular Tibetan language schools have also been stymied by the authorities: “To compensate for this, an educated local Tibetan had organized special classes to teach the language, but these have now been shut down,” a local Tibetan told RFA. “If we disobey the government’s directive, this could create problems for us. And if we comply, this could hurt the future of our children.” The full story is available here.

RenewDear Hans,

Please accept my thanks if you recently renewed your International Campaign for Tibet membership.

I’ve been persistent about membership renewals this month because annual gifts from ICT members and people of goodwill like you are essential to all of our efforts to create meaningful, lasting change for the Tibetan people. Our global movement will help accomplish the vision of peace carried out by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

If you have not already done so, please renew your ICT membership today.

Your tax-deductible gift will help strengthen bipartisan support for the Tibetan cause in Congress through ICT’s 7th Annual Tibet Lobby Day coming up next week. You will also help amplify the voices of Tibetans in world capitals and at the United Nations … intensify international pressure on China’s leaders to respect Tibetans’ human rights, including their religious freedom … and give Tibetans renewed hope in their nonviolent struggle for peace and justice.

Every action ICT takes to help Tibetans shape a better future depends on your renewed support.

Thank you for being a great friend to all of us at ICT, and especially to the people of Tibet.

Sincerely,
Matteo Mecacci

Letting go

Ahh, such a ice thought for today. How often we fight this kind of stuggle!

Or, like in the song, the hardest part of love is lettin' go.

Now there are many kind of lettin' goes.  A divorce can be one, or loosing a friend, a dear animal, a colleague, all are things that we do not realy want to loose.

I did loose two very dears. Not that I wanted to loose them. They decided to step aside. I was furious, when I did see that, it was so out of the blue, I never had expected SUCH and still, when I think back to it, I feel the unspoken suspects that their decision (they took it together) was not fully their own decision, but given by some others.
Just saying,  I don't go into details further about the reasons, because they are only my side of the story. It is very sad that I am not able to hear their side of the story. Having said that, it made clear, I think, that >I still have difficulties with it.

It is especially the unspoken part. When people dump me (or I them); it is only fair to give a reason for it, be honest. Not only to the 'victim'  but for yourself as well. If you never were able to say exactly what your problem was, then it will follow you, until the moment that it is sorted out, spiken out.  Not the first time, that  I read or hear that such reveals wait until the last moment, or that people, feel sorry that they did not explain it at the moment that they still could.

That's one of the reasons that I never shall close the door. That is one of the reasons that  I hope that they will return and at least tell me the real background from their decision.
I now know that I have acceted it. It is their life, and if they are happy with it, then it is fine. I should love to check that, but I do not look into their private lives. I can, I have the possibilities, but whey should I? They don't want me in it, so why should I go to look and hurt myself more?

I let the door open.

This week I talked about it, briefly, for the first time (well, not true, the 2nd time, but now with someone who did not kow it -yet-) and I did notice that I was calm with it. I was open for what she had to say about it, and it made me not sad or so. I feel only the need to write, and no one but they will understand where this is about ;-)

It is typical, that I did talk about this with the person that did 'let me go'  a while ago. I never did accept that 'tlettin go', and now, all t am so happy I did fight back to har. We have gone through so many things and that is why she, like no other, can understand and relativate, and give her, subjective opinion on things like this.

Apart from that, another patch in our friendship, the great thing was that I now realy know that 'the matter'  has found a place in my mind. It rests there. Again, I  did not close a door, they are always welcome, day and night, no matter how deep they have hurt me, I did forgive it. And I can not forget it, and I won't forget it, all my life long. The only hope I have is that, one day, I am able to talk with at least one of them. But since that is not in my hands, my hope is sitting in a corner. It is not over ruling my life. It is a small candle, what always burns and it waits for .. them.. to enlighten it. Maybe, one day, they will understand it, and maybe I am able then still to listen.
I do truly hope that their fight leads to the same enlightment and peace, that is in me now, now I did let go :)
