Maker Faire 2010 - Crazy Bike Creations (Pictures)
A big portion of Maker Faire is dedicated to bikes - hacking, modifying, making them solar....making them into cupcakes. This year's Maker Faire featured an outstanding collection of the coolest, and oddest, bikes out there. Check out the rides featured in the bike-powered carnival, the solar powered chariot bike pulled by a robot on roller skates, and more!

It is hilarious to see some of the makers pop on their "helmets" and see them spin around the faire:
Solar power, as usual, is a key part of the bikes featured at Maker Faire. Here is a participant in the Solar Drag Race, it's a two-seater with a collection of solar panels as the canopy:
The Maker Faire also features a selection of bike powered rides for kids. There were some really amazing rides but a favorite was this swing!
It was exciting to see the solar chariot back again, with a few new features. This year's modification put the chariot's robot steed on roller skates, and stuck a knight's helmet atop its head:
Check it out in action as the creator stepped aside to let a fan test drive it!
If you recall, last year's solar chariot steed was President Obama, sans roller skates:
