likes or not, that's the Question

I wrote about it before (somewhere), and I have to do it again.

Because it is a strange phenonema, at the social networks.

We can like the postings, and photos from others. Facebook even added emoticons, so that we not even need to write anymore when we are sad or angry, just one click and go, instead of a personal message. Okay, so far... not good, but we know that it works that way.

A like is a checkbox, as in saying that you have seen the post. It does not tell anything about the like, if the picture is technical okay, or that it is just something that you feel okay with.
A like is a digital 'check'  from a virtual person that incorrectly is named a friend.

Because, be honest, no one of us has over 100 friends, right? Your number at Facebook is not from the people that you meet or have contact with on a regular base.  Also... the 'like'  can as well be a sign of life. I did that to someone who showed pictures from Japan.  I put a like on it, to let him know that I saw it, a kind of hello, good luck bro!

I have no idea,  why people are thrilled with the fact when their posting gets a lot of likes.  What does it tell?  When it is a photo, it tells that a lot of peopole seen it and a part of it really like it.

On the other hand...  be happy with all your likes. It is like getting a peer :)  you have no idea who is behind it, until the person starts to get real for you.
Social networks.. I do not think I ever get used to it.

By the way, I add here two pictures, that got over 100 likes at facebook within 24 hours. Yesssss!  Now I can sleep well tonight.
But first christmas dinner. Peace on earth .. Or fights in a full stomach, but that might be the story for tomorrow :)

I think I change...

I think I change a bit.

Well, not really, you can not change a 57 year old fox from his habbits, but still... I go to give it a try.

The change I write about here is the digital change that I plan. For all at Facebook, I catch myself with sappy statements or opinions, about things that are far away from where I live, from what I do and from what really matters in my life.

Of course it will affect us all, who wins the american elections. But when I scream, Dump Trump, do I really affect the voters in the US with it?
Why am I telling that anyway?  People who are in my friends list, I consider them to think and to have some common thoughts with me.  What consequently means that there are enough 'reasons'  why they, just like me, have not good feelings with what some people say.

When I spread my opinion, I see people reacting, yes. The nearer it comes to them, the stronger they say, hey, mind your own business. And that's with right.

And when I stand up for equal rights, against abusement and so more, there will always be a few people that disagree. Those people should not be in my friend's list. They get from me a word, they will NOT get away with it. When they do not want people to react, then that tells enough and they can take measures themselves to make me shut up (a bit, ha!).  I will not unfriend them. Because I believe in freedom of speech and I think every opinion is important.  I also like to understand why people think different. I like dialogues.

But I dislike it when people point at others, give them a bad name. There are limits and who passes those, are definitely not welcome in my world.

There is the word.. My world.

My world is not the world of another. When someone wants to promote the use of weapons, they can. I will ask why, and come with lines like .. when people get a gun, you must not be surprised that it is used. And if 'the other'  explains me then about amandments and constitutioal rights, that is fine for me. I still will not agree with it, but I can try to understand where it comes from. Only with discussing the matter we can try to understand each other.

Social media made it so easy to have an opinion about everythng. Countless pictures, cartoons, are launched daily, people do put a lot of time in it and we, sorry, I mean me, I can not judge for others.... are sharing the best all over the world.
A Dutch tells his friends in England how bad Trump is. Or he tells his American friends about how much he dislikes the Brexit promotors (I already forgot their names, but they were sooooo bad...)

It is even more easy then that. Others made already the statements, we just need to share them. So it are not even my words. And how often did I check my sources, how genuine are those pictures after all?  Do I only take the easy way to get some nodders? (likers, in FB terms).
Hmmmm... I need to change that, I think!

Hans, mind your own business.  Clean up your own world. Be good to the people around you. It will keep me busy enough.
And when I have time for the social media.....  I sure shall participate in further discussions. And there will be matters that involve me, the people I care for, where I shall post about. But I think it is a good plan to not 'just post everything what matters'

I have plenty of photos that I like to share. They are a part of my world, and in that optic more important then my disgust about Trump. Politics  .. schmolitics... who sang tghat? :)

Join it.  Join me

@saurnnl

(why does that not surprise you? :D)

Ello

NSFW Month on Ello.

Following Google’s decision to ban NSFW content from Blogger (followed by an awkward reversal), we decided to celebrate freedom of speech on Ello by naming March NSWF Month.

You can’t ban some content without seriously impacting freedom of speech for everyone.

The last people we want to dictate what we can't say on the Internet are the advertisers that control big ad-based social networks. Ello doesn’t believe in censorship, and because Ello is ad-free, we will always be a dependable haven for free speech.

Help us celebrate NSFW Month on Ello by posting and discussing ideas about free speech, censorship, and why it's important that Internet remain open and free.
Much Love,
Ello

PS. Some people love adult content. Other's don't. Ello is all about respecting each others' point of view. You can always turn NSFW content on or off on your Ello settings page.

Read about Ello’s rules and NSFW policy here.

Breakng the chain

it seems almost impossible to break the chain from FaceBook, from the moment that you are catched in it.
True, I met some wonderful peaple through it

True, I did renewal some friendships, even with relatives
True, it is so easy to give them a small note of attention, when needed, a birthday greeting or whatever. Wat only works if the other reveals hat information. And there it is where I am thinking about more and more

It is too late for this year, but I was thinking, how about hiding a birthday, and then see how many people realy do wish you a happy birthday.  I got over 150 wishes at my birthday, (with less then 300 friends that is a nice quote), but who should realy have known it when I had not my birthdaty given free for everyone?
Okay, I go to change that now. So that I can not forget it, and I will see what happens.  Today is Jose's birthday, I shall add it in my agenda (in case that I miss it on FaceBook, next year...)

Done. I also did write a snap to a friend, who seems to be very ill, as well as hubby. I care for them, but it is hard when it is only a one way conversation. When I am silent, the other side is silent too and that makes it very difficult. In another project that is similar. People start wiith being exited, with partnership, doing the thngs together, and then, you can wait for it, complications show up and in the end it is me doing it all alone.
Yea baby it's a one way love, from me to you.
I saw it with Bernd, Hetty, and some others (I know that U read this, LOL), and I am used to it, I do not expect anything back from others. But still, when there comes nothing, it still hurts. And for all, it makes me unsure. Am I doing things wrong?  I realy don't know and when the others, such as my kids, do not give the chance to find out what exactly is the problem, yea, well, what then?  I can hurt myself with searching for an answer that will not come (now) or I can go on with my life.

See how it works with Har, we did NOT solve the origin from our disconnection, but we did pick up the lines and are now on normal talks again and that is fine. We know where we stand and how we are, and we accept that, not trying to understand every detail, just accepting.. Like in I love you just the way you are. And that is exactly how I love my love as well. I don't need another to behave perfectly. I am not perfectly as well, so why should the other be?

whoops I did slip away from the origin of my blog.

I think that I slowly consider to move away from FaceBook. I need my real friends. The ones that I did found through it, or that I had already before. I need some relatives, that I have ignored too long
And right at this consideration, I see that there are good alternatives, that I like. Ello, for example. No nonsense. Sharing stuff. That's it. :-)
I think I need to go back to the basics. There was a time we did not need the internet at all :)

Don't overdo

I wanted to place a screen, with the reason of this blog, but I won't do it.

The person involved is pretty sensitive, and I don't need to upset people more then they upset themselves. Whoa, wise words, let me quickly forget them, elsewise I have not much to blog in the future anymore :-)

This morning someone wrote about a terrible accident that did happen to his friend.  And later this person did write a comment, that we should not whine and complain about all those small matters what in fact hardly matter.

Of course that is true.  But it made my eyebrowse rising from themselves, to see this coming from a person, who, in the past months, turned out to be a big whiner himself, anyway at the social media, in what he now is telling that we should not be.

I understand him, I wish his friend well, and I feel sorry, I realy do. But still, it is a bit strange to see these lines coming from a person that is one of the people that i doing the thngs that he now asks 'us' to do not.
I do them as well, and many others do. It seems to be normal, nowadays, to express your feelings and emotions at the inteernet, rather then at home.

I dd leave the stage of educating others in this, to tell them that they should not, because I do it myself as well.  Okay, true, less then before, but, been there and will be there again, I guess :-)

So, before I leave and get some fresh cold air again, I wonder, why someone writes 'don't matter about small things, there are bigger things',  while he will be doing exactly that soon again.
The answer could be varios, and I have to think about them.
Not for this particular case, but in general. Again, I don't attack anyone, I am not better then you, I am the same..

Is someone tellig us 'what to do' and 'what not'  to get a kind of attention that he normalle not gets?

Is someone tellig us 'don't whine about small thngs, think at the essentials', while she forgets to look into the mirror that moment?

Is someone trying to put in fake emotions with it?  Like, see how much I care, all the sudden the small things don't matter anymore.
And the question next to this is, how long will this 'eye opener'  work?

Are it fake emotions, to get others people intrest?

That last question I don't need to answer anymore. This miserable blog tells the answer :)

What realy is dangerous at Facebook & Co

We are (almost) all on it, and we are (almost) all aware about the inproper things that happen at facebook and Co.

The big issue of the past time is about data mining, getting as much info from 'us', and returning personalized messages.  We know that FaceBook is doing this (such as google and all other big businesses), and we accept it. Sometimes we are shocked with what happens, and for me it gives a giggle when, for example, I am chatting with a person who is original from kroatia, that I get commercials for holidays at Croatia.

My personal hero of 2013, Snowden, did do a good job this year in making the world realize about how much of our lives is realy private.  Fact is that, when you realy want your privacy, you should not be at the internet at all.  But, that was a side walk, I wanted to tell something about Facebook and the real dangers of it.

The real dangers of Facebook, in my eyes, are not the facts that they are collecting our data. We give it, they take it, in fact we agree with this at the moment that we create our account. We cannot blame (or sue) them for doing the things that google, microsoft, apple, samsung and you name it, are doing as well!

The real danger of Facebook (and other social media) are the personal messages that we place.
How often do I see messages from people that tell about their illness, about their sleepless nights.  I do it mself as well, it is so easy. And there is always someone who reacts, no matter what time of the day, or night, that I post such, someone is there to awwww or ahhhh with you.
We tend to consider our networks as friends, living persons, who realy do care. When no one else does care, there is always a Facebook Friend that does..

The internet is nothng better then any other place. There are 80 percent people of good will, a few that are not even aware that they are around, a few that use it day and night and a few that are searching for trouble.

Nowadays we all have some private troubles, one bigger then the other, and we tend to hare them as well with our on line friends. What is okay, of course, that's where friends are for-

Now there you see the danger. Sharing things with firends is okay, they help and care. But in those days that we consider social networks, Facebook, as a friend, we tend to mix up and tell our friend FaceBook what is wrong in our life.  Problems at work, share them with FaceBook, FB will take care.  But FB has as well eyes with your bosses and enemies.
Problems in your family (and who has not)?  Share them with your big friend FB. There is always someoen who cares, or who supports you. No matter if you are right or wrong, someone DOES listen to you.

That, in my opinion, is the biggest danger that our friend FB (and the others) is for us.  FaceBook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google, they ar NOT human!  People who use it are. So, when you start writing something about persons, how rude are you treated, how desperate you are, and share it with your friend FB, your friend FB will share it with all your friends. And there is always someone who understands what you mean. And there is often someone who in fact should not read your words, or who can interprete them wrong.

I did see that myself as well.  A she, who is realy close to me, did hurt me. We did not share it with our big friend FB, but we did it in emails. A tiny bit more private that is. Not much, but still.
Then, there was that remark that she did place and did share with her huge friend FB.  And of course, someone did react.  The someone that reacted is exactly the other one that did hurt me. Who is so keen to not share the stuff with his big friend FB.  But he did react.  Big friend FB did share it with me. I was already unfriended and blocked, but the info came still to me.  I shall not react further on it, but the fact that I did see that reaction, I didnt ask for it, made me realize how vulnerable we all are on line.

No matter how careful we are, there is no guarantee that your messages might reach eyes that you dont want to see them.  And when you use your personal time line to tell your friend FB your sorrow, you can be sure that there are people reading it, who shouldnt.

Share what you like, it is lovely to see what you eat, it is lovely to see you having fun with your friends, it is wonderful to see great pictures and wisdoms that you found.
We all make the mistake to put some private matters on line and share it with our friend FB. And it is good to realize that he is not our friend. He is the biggest danger for your life and can ruin it. More then the personal issues that you have with others.  Be careful!
