In Jail

 It finally happened (again).

I am in FaceBook jail (again).

After a long time, in what I could behave, I appearantly am in the view of FB  or  its reporters again.

A (light) delict from a while ago, and today my warning for  FB accounts with sexual intentions (nothing to see, just  ordently covered big ones), was appearantly enough to give me a 24 hours ban.  And, if it is not bad enough, I got a double penalty, my other account is catched as well. Even more vague, no idea what I did wrong there (honestly, I swear!!)  And no idea how long that ban will last, if it is related to the other one.

Anyway, it seems that I am a while together with myself, in that silly FB prison.

I can understand that rough language is, especially nowadays, a reason to be 'warned', or even that that kind of messages are not allowed.  I also can imagine, why people need to be stopped in voicing. And I know that I can be not so tactical, in my replies, and that my words sometimes are too harsh.

In that optic, the time in jail is understandable.
On the other side, I see so much hate, in reactions, much worse (in my opinon, what is coloured, I know) then  my slippery words or posts.
I should love to see someone noticing that as well, and say that that kind of behavior is unacceptable.

Deep sigh.

I will rest my case,  who likes can add my new account (Ha Fri, you will recognize it easily) and else... Be happy, to have a few hours of rest from me.

Breaking the rules

As you might know I am a photographer.  For fun, I should do other things next to it, so far the theory (yes I am guilty!)

Next to sharing my photos, it is also nice (and, to me, essential) to be challenged in it. I do the challenges alone (like the 52 Trees), or I let myself be inspired in groups, and Facebook is the perfect place for gaining that inspiration.
There is a group, I am member in, who has very few rules, and a nice challenge.  One of the  rules is, that you should use your own photo, according to the given word. The word is chosen in random, every week someone in the group chooses the words.

Now, as in every group, there are always people who 'forget'  the rules, and then luckily a few others are telling and correcting this to the one who posted.  So far, so good.
Unless there are people, who disagree with the rules. Strange, when you join a group and disagree with the daily rules, why are you in the group then, anyway.

The alternative is, building your own group, with your own rules. Sad, however, when you then try to steal the members out of the old group, appearantly why you not have an idea how to find people (no friends, maybe?).
The more sad it becomes, if you continue to break the rules. Putting things at the border (as in stealing a photo from internet and publish it as your own, eventually edited).
The more strange it is, when such person is awarded with the week award.  By a person that jut has broke the rules as well (another rule, but still).

A new bomb is placed under the group. And I look forward to see how the bad boys and girls are going to leave.
As in chess, it is good to think forward, to what next step  could be, and anticipate on that on forward.

And who knows me, knows how difficult it is, for me, to wait and not wildly kick around . But, I can, I am improving!

I keep looking from aside, today. And here as well I believe in Karma, just like by Trump, I can not wait to see the evil leaving!  :)

Writing and reacting

Time for a facebook ranting again.

The question of today is, why are we writing at facebook.

Is it, purely, to show our activity or opinion?
Or do we hope on a reaction?

Some people might say that they do not care what others think of their opinion.
Should they really not mind if no one reacts?

It happens, now and then, that I have a pretty harsh comment. I do not really care what others think, because it is MY opinion, not theirs, but still, I react and do like to see how others see this.  From the reactions of others I can learn to express myself better (maybe), or to see how right I am with what I think and do.  Or how wrong.  So, even when it does not matter too much what others think, I still like to see their reactions.

In that view I raise my eyebrows when I see people, with pretty radical statements (maybe meant as joke, maybe not), who have difficulties when someone (read me) reacts in a similar way with disagreement.
Not that I care, of course, what they think...... ;-)

How social are you?

Because I am addicted, I now and then need to talk about the social media, and for all our big evil Facebook (what has not much  with a book to do, at all).

Regurarily I read complaintts, where people question why others have to express their private life so much at FB. And sometimes I moan as well.

Is it really needed to tell every day, in public, that you love someone so much?

Is it really necessary to tell what you are eating?
Do I really need to know that you could not sleep?  (ha. .. me guilty!)

A social media easily runs into an un-social media, when we forget what it all is about.  Just realize, again, what you really want to share and what not.
I do care for you, else you were not at my friends list, but do I need to know that your child failed in potty training (apart from the fact that he will read it in 10 year and comes with questions to his parents, why the .... such needed to be posted, with pictures and all?)

We all can fill in examples, where we read too much information about the private life of others. Maybe, before we complain about them, we could take a look at ourselves, and ask why we post things. And for all, if it really is something that others want to know, to read, to see.

Sometimes we spread too much information, even without realizing it.  Thinking, before you write or post, might help.

Here a nice example.  I took this photo, because the name of the pub, colours and more.  Then, I saw that it as well revealed a city name, so that you can figure out where I was at that moment.  Do I really want others to know that all?

I think I change...

I think I change a bit.

Well, not really, you can not change a 57 year old fox from his habbits, but still... I go to give it a try.

The change I write about here is the digital change that I plan. For all at Facebook, I catch myself with sappy statements or opinions, about things that are far away from where I live, from what I do and from what really matters in my life.

Of course it will affect us all, who wins the american elections. But when I scream, Dump Trump, do I really affect the voters in the US with it?
Why am I telling that anyway?  People who are in my friends list, I consider them to think and to have some common thoughts with me.  What consequently means that there are enough 'reasons'  why they, just like me, have not good feelings with what some people say.

When I spread my opinion, I see people reacting, yes. The nearer it comes to them, the stronger they say, hey, mind your own business. And that's with right.

And when I stand up for equal rights, against abusement and so more, there will always be a few people that disagree. Those people should not be in my friend's list. They get from me a word, they will NOT get away with it. When they do not want people to react, then that tells enough and they can take measures themselves to make me shut up (a bit, ha!).  I will not unfriend them. Because I believe in freedom of speech and I think every opinion is important.  I also like to understand why people think different. I like dialogues.

But I dislike it when people point at others, give them a bad name. There are limits and who passes those, are definitely not welcome in my world.

There is the word.. My world.

My world is not the world of another. When someone wants to promote the use of weapons, they can. I will ask why, and come with lines like .. when people get a gun, you must not be surprised that it is used. And if 'the other'  explains me then about amandments and constitutioal rights, that is fine for me. I still will not agree with it, but I can try to understand where it comes from. Only with discussing the matter we can try to understand each other.

Social media made it so easy to have an opinion about everythng. Countless pictures, cartoons, are launched daily, people do put a lot of time in it and we, sorry, I mean me, I can not judge for others.... are sharing the best all over the world.
A Dutch tells his friends in England how bad Trump is. Or he tells his American friends about how much he dislikes the Brexit promotors (I already forgot their names, but they were sooooo bad...)

It is even more easy then that. Others made already the statements, we just need to share them. So it are not even my words. And how often did I check my sources, how genuine are those pictures after all?  Do I only take the easy way to get some nodders? (likers, in FB terms).
Hmmmm... I need to change that, I think!

Hans, mind your own business.  Clean up your own world. Be good to the people around you. It will keep me busy enough.
And when I have time for the social media.....  I sure shall participate in further discussions. And there will be matters that involve me, the people I care for, where I shall post about. But I think it is a good plan to not 'just post everything what matters'

I have plenty of photos that I like to share. They are a part of my world, and in that optic more important then my disgust about Trump. Politics  .. schmolitics... who sang tghat? :)

Too dark? Or not?

I don't know why I feel so insecure at the moment.

That is, at the point of photographing.
I seem to develop nicely, my works get better, I have lovely people to get along with, but somehow there is a bit of inconvenience, that I cannot describe very well.

Maybe it is the fact that I feel like growing out of the original group, what brought me the real fun in photographing?
There are a few people that I consider as friends, and one of them is changing, from a positive, nice partner, to a bitter self-convinced person, else I can not describe it.
I don't mind when people critisize my work, even when I do not think that this photo is TOO dark, it is dark, yes, but that is on purpose, the light is exactly showing what it is.  I don't mind if someone tells me such in public, in a group at all. At the end it is a personal decission, if you like a thing or not.

I think I get a bit bored, I need a few challenges. And maybe a group is in the end not my thing, maybe I am too  much having my own ideas and thoughts, maybe I am not a social person at all.

I have to let the idea ripe further. And in the meantime I concentrate at my poetry and photos. Do I really not need a group, or should I change my own attitude a tiny bit.  As in, letting go, and going my own way.  I not necessarily need to be at meetings and stuff, to make good pictures, right.

Today I will start. I will be there, for a moment, and then go home again. I do not feel like waiting all evening for the blue hour.  But most of all, the main thing is that I am home with my sweetie.  She means the world to me. When she is home, not working, what is rare, I love to be with her. ü Priorities!

Now I go to prepare my camera, and dinner. So that I can join the pohot group for the moments that I am still home alone.

And the picture.. is it too dark?

Friends

Friends, I wrote it many times already, is a word that lost its realy meaning through facebook.  I mean, I can imagine some people have more friends then I but when you have over 1000 Friends, I doubt if it all are realy friends.

Same goes for the connected word 'likes'  The more likes, the more confirmation that what you are doing is well. Well, I can imagine people like what pthers do more then what I do, but when there are over 100 likes on a post I start wondering why.

Some people need those confirmation, and I think I know why.
When this kind of confirmation is missing in real life, it looks cool to see that you are digital popular. It covers an insecure life in reality, it misleads people.
Ask why people put a like on a post. Often it is just for knowing that we have read the post, rather then that we agree with it.
But those poor insecure people like to fool theirselves and unconditionally measure their popularity on it.

Let's call ths person Frank.  Frank is small, insecure, and makes a mess of his own life.  On line he has hundreds of friends, and he love to show himself in pictures with his friends, with his girl, and so more.
Frank i friends with someone who even gets more likes at his posts. Frank can not stand it, but he is friends and decides to copy the behavior of his friend. He also tells everyone that his friend is his best friend.  No one can confirm it, especially not while that friend (let's call him Jos) is never telling that he is Franks best friend.
Frank fights his way and intrudes even the private life of Jos.  That must be photographed and put on line and Ffrank is counting the likes. The most important thing of his action, and when he has more likes then the 20 usual, his mission has succeeded.
Frank was shortly friends with me.  I did unfriend him, because I had nothing to do with Frank: I dont like his music, I dont like his tttitude, so he has nothing for what I should keep him in my friends list. Same goees for Edwin, this two are really two sismilar persons when it comes to bad attitude.

I am friends with Jos. I  was there, several times, when he needed me and the other way around.
Jos and his wife did invite us for dinner. His wife did put some pictures on line, telling, we go to have silvester dnner with good friends.
Frank right away contacted Jos, to find out who those friends were. He did not like it when he found out who.
So, when his best friend has a great evening, he dislikes it when it is not with him bu with other friennds.

It is that this frank is  cowrd, else I think that Jos and I should hve realy  a problem with this aweful person. I wait until he makes more mistakes, annd will loose his friendship with Jos.  Jos is a wonderful person, he deserves better persons at his side then this small jealous baby

Faceboo and beacons

I just read this at one of the good technical sites.

I was amazed already, this week, that, after that I did check out (google) for some photo equipment, that since that moment there is a constant advertising from similar articles.  Hey hellooooo I did order it and (at least a part of it) is supposed to arrive this afternoon, stop with those not so helpful hints! :-), get that intelligent that I did order it already. Okay, I need to be fair, it is with another account, but still...

Good. Our friend Faceboo is going a step further with telling us where we are, it seems. Since I barely use bluetooth and GPS (those batteries huh), it will not be very helpful for me so I guess that for the moment I am stuck to look around and not at my device to see where I am.

Nevertheless, the technical things are improving and going further, unstoppable.  I get scared already with thinking that my friends tell me all the time where they are :-)

Facebook tosses creepy Place Tips beacons at stateside retailers

Bluetooth and location turned on? Then watch out, suckershopper!

Facebook has begun dishing out "free" beacons to retail outfits in the US, just in time for an update to its eerie Place Tips technology, which is now being deployed across the country.
The Yelp-like service kicks into life when a Facebook user's location-tracking is set to the default 'on' mode and their mobe has Bluetooth enabled.
As The Register reported in January, Place Tips uses GPS, cell towers and Wi-Fi networks to feed information about local retailers, firms and attractions that are nearby to a given Facebooker.
Facebook has promised that its beacon – which some readers with longish memories may consider to be an ill-advised, albeit generic, name – is "designed for privacy".
The Mark Zuckerberg-run company told businesses:
These beacons use Bluetooth technology to send a one-way signal to the Facebook app on your visitors’ phones to help us show them the right information.
The beacons don’t collect any information from people or their phones or change the kind of location information Facebook receives. They’re designed not to disrupt the operation of your Wi-Fi or other equipment.
Only people who have enabled location services on their phone and have Bluetooth turned on will receive Place Tips from the beacon at your business.
Facebook could eventually offer this tech to retailers who want to serve up ads and deals to people who are within the vicinity of their biz, but would rather follow their phone than their nose for a bargain.
The modern world is wonderful, isn't it? ®

the struggle

No, I can not get rid of FaceBook yet, and most of all it is because there are too much connections with other places, and persons, that I do not want to give up now.

My first time out lasted exactly 24 hours, and then I did return again. As one person said, Facebook is a huge time swallowing monster and that is so true, but how can I get rid of it?

So, I think I have to change strategy. I can not let it go just like a 'cold turkey', quit and live happily.
I have the plan in my head to do it slightly.  I did manage one day, how about a weekend?

And again, the groups will remain, I don't give them up -yet-, but who kows how long that will last?
What is the use, for example, to be in a group with 6 admins, and only me is taking initiatives?  Ohh, hey, that sounds so me, that did happen the past 50 years so often, and so often I did quit as well. It is a consideration for the coming time. I shall not post anything anymore other then pictures and comments. No new initiatives. There is a huge horse event, this weekend, in Düsseldorf, it could be cool to photograph it (not for me), but does it matter?

I mark the dates that might be intresting for myself. I mark the trips I want to make (kaarster see is getting higher at the wish list).  It is a pitty, but I don't share it anymore, if others don't share it as well. Life goes on, and I have to go on as well.  I hate Facebook! :) I can't live with you.. but I can't live without you :)

Judge kills Facebook's bid to dismiss private message sniffing case

Judge kills Facebook's bid to dismiss private message sniffing case

Users will get their day in court

A California judge has turned down Facebook's motion to dismiss a class-action suit against the company from users who are aggrieved that the social network was truffling through their private messages for advertising purposes.
Facebook users Matthew Campbell and Michael Hurley filed the suit 12 months ago claiming that the Valley giant was scanning private messages and assigning 'Likes' to companies if they were mentioned. They argue that their privacy has been infringed by the action.
The practice was accidentally discovered by two sets of security researchers investigating Facebook's business practices and the lawsuit was launched a few months afterwards.
Another plaintiff, David Shadpour, has since joined the case and the trio are demanding $10,000 apiece from Zuck & Co, and asked that all Facebook users who have had their messages scanned get the same.
Facebook has described the case as "without merit," and argued in court that it had he right to scan messages under its terms and conditions. It has said that it has stopped the practice for more than two years and asked that the case be dismissed.
US District Judge Phyllis Hamilton disagreed in an Oakland Court on Tuesday. She said the hearings should go ahead, saying that Facebook hadn't proved its case yet.
"Facebook's unwillingness to offer any details regarding its targeted advertising practice prevents the court from being able to determine whether the specific practice challenged in this case should be considered 'ordinary,' she wrote in her judgment [PDF].
But she did agree to drop some of the charges, saying that the plaintiffs had failed to prove that they had suffered any property damage (since messages aren't viewed as 'property' under California law) and that the messages could not be regarded as confidential.
The case will continue in the New Year. ®

Facebook slammed for blocking protest event page at Russia's request

the power of FaceBook. We all are guilty in this censorship.

Facebook slammed for blocking protest event page at Russia's request

That's a big NYET to you, with love from Zuck

Russian political dissidents voiced their displeasure with Facebook on Monday after the social network blocked an event page promoting a demonstration on behalf of jailed opposition leader Aleksei Navalny.
The page in question was reportedly blocked at the request of Roskomnadzor, Russia's state internet policing body.
"We were very surprised and very disappointed because of the speed with which Facebook has satisfied an ordinary request of Roskomnadzor without even contacting the organizers of the event," a spokesman for Navalny, who is barred from using either phones or the internet, told the New York Times.
A spokesman for Roskomnadzor told the paper that Facebook had blocked the page because it promoted an "unsanctioned mass event," a term that under Russian law can apply to any gathering of three or more people.
Past opposition demonstrations have been considerably larger than that. At the height of anti-Putin activism in 2011, some rallies drew crowds as large as 100,000 people, with much of the organizing taking place via Facebook.
The Putin administration's reaction has been to pass a series of laws restricting online speech, including requiring any blogger with an audience of more than 3,000 to register with the government.
Putin himself has even gone as far as to claim that the entire internet is a "CIA-controlled project."
Russian bigwigs have reportedly also taken a heavy hand in running the nation's internet companies. In April, Pavel Durov, founder of VKontakte, Russia's largest social network, claimed that he had beenpushed out of his own company by oligarchs who now control the site – which may explain why dissidents prefer to use US-run Facebook to do their organizing.
On Monday, Durov slammed Facebook to the NYT, saying Mark Zuckerberg's firm had "no guts and no principles."
Organizers of the pro-Navalny rally have apparently started a second Facebook page promoting the January 15 event, which so far has not been blocked.
Facebook has yet to respond to The Register's request for comment on the matter. ®

Facebook

Dear #satty

We spend a lot of time debating what to post on Facebook. We type out a message, then we rewrite it. Sometimes we erase it all together.

But the code that powers Facebook has been recording everything we type on screen, even if we don't hit publish — and it wants to know why we aren't sharing.

Turns out, Facebook has been monitoring, tracking and interpreting our unposted notes, comments and statuses this entire time, using even what we don't say as metadata to pass on to spy agencies like the NSA or advertisers from Groupon to Mastercard.

Choosing not to share is supposed to be what little still protects us from governments and corporations that can hack our emails, bug our phones and turn on our webcams without our knowledge. Please, join us in demanding Facebook stop logging and storing this data, and start protecting our right not to publish!

PETITION TO FACEBOOK: Respect our right to remain private, and stop storing information about what we type in drafts for Facebook comments, notes and statuses to share with spies and sellers.

Click here to sign -- it just takes a second.
Thanks,

What realy is dangerous at Facebook & Co

We are (almost) all on it, and we are (almost) all aware about the inproper things that happen at facebook and Co.

The big issue of the past time is about data mining, getting as much info from 'us', and returning personalized messages.  We know that FaceBook is doing this (such as google and all other big businesses), and we accept it. Sometimes we are shocked with what happens, and for me it gives a giggle when, for example, I am chatting with a person who is original from kroatia, that I get commercials for holidays at Croatia.

My personal hero of 2013, Snowden, did do a good job this year in making the world realize about how much of our lives is realy private.  Fact is that, when you realy want your privacy, you should not be at the internet at all.  But, that was a side walk, I wanted to tell something about Facebook and the real dangers of it.

The real dangers of Facebook, in my eyes, are not the facts that they are collecting our data. We give it, they take it, in fact we agree with this at the moment that we create our account. We cannot blame (or sue) them for doing the things that google, microsoft, apple, samsung and you name it, are doing as well!

The real danger of Facebook (and other social media) are the personal messages that we place.
How often do I see messages from people that tell about their illness, about their sleepless nights.  I do it mself as well, it is so easy. And there is always someone who reacts, no matter what time of the day, or night, that I post such, someone is there to awwww or ahhhh with you.
We tend to consider our networks as friends, living persons, who realy do care. When no one else does care, there is always a Facebook Friend that does..

The internet is nothng better then any other place. There are 80 percent people of good will, a few that are not even aware that they are around, a few that use it day and night and a few that are searching for trouble.

Nowadays we all have some private troubles, one bigger then the other, and we tend to hare them as well with our on line friends. What is okay, of course, that's where friends are for-

Now there you see the danger. Sharing things with firends is okay, they help and care. But in those days that we consider social networks, Facebook, as a friend, we tend to mix up and tell our friend FaceBook what is wrong in our life.  Problems at work, share them with FaceBook, FB will take care.  But FB has as well eyes with your bosses and enemies.
Problems in your family (and who has not)?  Share them with your big friend FB. There is always someoen who cares, or who supports you. No matter if you are right or wrong, someone DOES listen to you.

That, in my opinion, is the biggest danger that our friend FB (and the others) is for us.  FaceBook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google, they ar NOT human!  People who use it are. So, when you start writing something about persons, how rude are you treated, how desperate you are, and share it with your friend FB, your friend FB will share it with all your friends. And there is always someone who understands what you mean. And there is often someone who in fact should not read your words, or who can interprete them wrong.

I did see that myself as well.  A she, who is realy close to me, did hurt me. We did not share it with our big friend FB, but we did it in emails. A tiny bit more private that is. Not much, but still.
Then, there was that remark that she did place and did share with her huge friend FB.  And of course, someone did react.  The someone that reacted is exactly the other one that did hurt me. Who is so keen to not share the stuff with his big friend FB.  But he did react.  Big friend FB did share it with me. I was already unfriended and blocked, but the info came still to me.  I shall not react further on it, but the fact that I did see that reaction, I didnt ask for it, made me realize how vulnerable we all are on line.

No matter how careful we are, there is no guarantee that your messages might reach eyes that you dont want to see them.  And when you use your personal time line to tell your friend FB your sorrow, you can be sure that there are people reading it, who shouldnt.

Share what you like, it is lovely to see what you eat, it is lovely to see you having fun with your friends, it is wonderful to see great pictures and wisdoms that you found.
We all make the mistake to put some private matters on line and share it with our friend FB. And it is good to realize that he is not our friend. He is the biggest danger for your life and can ruin it. More then the personal issues that you have with others.  Be careful!
