Dear Hans,
People here in the U.S. and around the world are being flooded by
China’s most dangerous export: incessant lies about the situation in
Tibet.
Thanks to your support of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT),
many people aren’t being fooled by the Chinese government’s propaganda.
The results of a recent opinion poll ICT conducted in Europe prove the
impact of our efforts: 83% of French and German citizens want their
countries’ leaders to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and even
stronger majorities are aware of the dismal state of human rights in
Tibet.
As an informed and engaged member of the International Campaign for
Tibet, you understand the danger of allowing the Chinese government’s
propaganda to go unchallenged. That’s why I’m counting on you to help ICT continue making the truth known.
By supporting ICT, you will help our efforts to advance freedoms in
Tibet by countering the deceitful influence of Chinese government-funded
schemes, including:
- Smearing His Holiness the Dalai Lama by equating him with Adolf Hitler.
- Placing China Watch advertising supplements in major U.S. newspapers to paint a false picture of “harmony and stability” in Tibet.
- Setting up Confucius Institutes on the campuses of universities
in more than 90 countries where scholars and students are not allowed to
talk freely about Tibet.
As
galling as such blatant propaganda is, it proves Chinese authorities
understand that their main enemy is the truth - once the truth gets out
it will hasten the end of their oppression of Tibetans. Like you, all of
us here at ICT understand that fact too. Now we need your help to set the record straight.
Additional polling to gauge the success of our truth-telling initiatives
in the U.S. and expanding ICT public education campaigns are among the
crucial activities you will be making possible.
Please support ICT with a tax-deductible gift to make sure others don’t buy into Chinese authorities’ lies about Tibet. Thank you for standing up for the truth … and standing with the Tibetan people.
